Serious disorders of the digestive system, sleep interruptions and increased nervousness, skin spots, loss of weight and appetite - these are just some of the symptoms you will encounter when you are infected with worms. However, treating helminths cannot be less dangerous than themselves.
An incorrectly chosen course, an overdose, an acute allergic reaction - all this can cause irreparable harm to your health. Therefore, let's talk about how to get rid of worms at home and whether it is worth changing traditional medicine to folk medicine.
Advantages and disadvantages of home remedies.
Today, the pharmacological market offers dozens of names of tablets, capsules and granules. However, not all infected people rush to buy them as soon as they learn of their diagnosis.
Every year, more and more people choose traditional medicine.
And it is not surprising, because it has a number of advantages, including:
- Security.The main problem with drugs is their high toxicity. By destroying parasites, they gradually accumulate in the body and damage the liver and other internal organs. Home remedies for worms, on the other hand, consist exclusively of products of plant origin. They are absolutely safe for both adults and children and can therefore be prescribed at any age.
- Price.While you will have to pay a lot of money for brand name medications, home treatment will cost much less. The components of tinctures and mixtures are used everywhere and are therefore economical.
- Availability.Many tablets often have artificial or natural shortages. This does not threaten folk remedies. The main components of "grandmother's" recipes can always be found in any pharmacy or grocery store.
- Versatility.The medications have a fairly large list of side effects and are therefore not suitable for everyone. Herbal preparations against worms can be taken both by an average person and by people in a high-risk category: children, pregnant women and nursing mothers.
- Reliability.Medicines appear and disappear, replacing themselves on the shelves at a fairly active pace. At the same time, some of them do not even undergo mandatory checks and are not registered with the State. registration of medications approved for use. At the same time, folk remedies have passed the main test - the test of time. They clearly demonstrated their effectiveness, because with their help our grandmothers were successfully treated against worms, when they had not even heard of the new tablets.
As for the shortcomings of traditional medicine, among them we can only highlight the healing time. The medications eliminate worms in one or two applications. For those taking tinctures and herbal preparations, the treatment can last more than a month.
Note!If the worm infection occurs in a severe stage, home remedies alone will not help you. In this case, a comprehensive treatment should be used to combat parasites, which will include both medications and home remedies for parasites.
Traditional medicine and its varieties.
Today on the Internet you can find dozens of recipes for various herbs, decoctions and diets, which will not be difficult for an untrained user to confuse. Therefore, let's see what modern traditional medicine offers and which of its remedies really help.

Note!Whatever method you choose to eliminate worms, self-medication, as a rule, only aggravates the problem. Therefore, if you do not want to face the consequences of an overdose or incorrect selection of the drug, be sure to consult a parasitologist before starting treatment.
Other home remedies for worms.
If you do not have time or desire to tinker with various tinctures and decoctions, and you need the result "yesterday", you can resort to the help of products that, if they do not kill the worms, make it easier for them to stay in the body. extremely uncomfortable.
These include:
- Sauerkraut.Drink half a glass of brine based on it three times a day, half an hour before meals, and parasites (usually Giardia) attacking the gallbladder and liver will soon leave the body alone.
- Strawberry and black currant.These berries contain active substances that serve as a real poison for lamblia and pinworms. Therefore (if possible) it is necessary to eat as many as possible, especially during the season.
- Pumpkin seeds (or coriander).If you don't like the solution we wrote above, pierce the seeds in a frying pan (necessarily without adding oil) and use them as a light snack or as a complete snack.
- Watermelon seeds.Grind the watermelon seeds and pour milk over them (in a ratio of one to ten). By taking this mixture twice a day you will forget about parasites for a long time.
- Pinions.Consume between 50 and 100 grams. Take walnuts daily for two months and the result will not take long to arrive.
However, do not forget that these products are not a panacea for helminths. Simply adding them to your diet will not eliminate parasites, although they are more than effective as a means of prevention.
It would be best to combine its consumption with the use of home remedies. But even in this case, you cannot expect a quick result. Therefore, if an infection occurs and you do not want to poison your body with chemicals, be prepared for long-term treatment.
Enemas
The main disadvantage of most medicinal and folk remedies for combating worms is that they are only effective against adult worms, while they have minimal effect on eggs and larvae. In addition, the dead parasites remain in the intestines for some time, serving as food for their surviving brothers.
Therefore, if you want the treatment to be as fast and effective as possible, in addition to taking medications, you should also include enemas. They will not only cleanse the lower intestine of parasite eggs and remains, but also help eliminate constipation and stabilize intestinal function.
Today, the two most common enema recipes are:
- The first is garlic-based.
It is great for both adults and their children. And in case of individual intolerance, garlic can be replaced with onion or tansy. The recipe for such an enema is simple: a head of garlic should be chopped and poured with boiling water (100 ml). Mix the solution well and leave it to infuse for 12-15 hours. After this time, it will be necessary to filter it and apply an enema.
The duration of cleaning depends on the magnitude of the infection: in the initial stages, one week is enough, in the later stages, the treatment should last at least 14 days. If you wish to repeat the course, you must do so no earlier than one week after finishing the previous one.
- The second is based on soda.
This recipe is no longer particularly suitable for children, since their immunity is not yet so strong and soft drinks can have a negative effect on the internal intestinal microflora. For adults, on the contrary, such an enema is absolutely safe.
Preparing it is quite simple: take boiled water at room temperature (1 liter) and add a teaspoon of soda. Let the soda dissolve and then mix the solution well. Cleaning should be done every two days.
The duration of treatment (as in the case of garlic) depends on the progress of the infection. If there are not so many worms in the body yet, it is enough to clean them for a week.
If they have already developed vigorous activity, it takes at least 2 weeks to remove parasites from the body using an enema.
To avoid wasting the use of an enema, the following rules must be followed during cleansing:
- Before starting the procedure, be sure to go to the bathroom. This way you will empty the intestines and make pest elimination as effective as possible.
- Clean the body in the afternoon or even at night, when the worms are most active in their migration. The best option is before bedtime or 4-5 hours after the last meal.
- After entering the solution, try to keep it inside your body for at least 20 to 30 minutes. This will remove a large number of worms and improve the cleaning effect.
- If the use of an enema causes side effects (for example, diarrhea, diarrhea, an allergic reaction), stop treatment immediately and consult your doctor as soon as possible.
- If the infection has reached serious proportions, perform 2 or 3 enemas in a row to enhance the cleansing effect.
Although the above home remedies for treating and expelling worms are of plant origin, it would be a mistake to call them absolutely safe.
People may be allergic or have a hypersensitivity reaction to certain components of infusions and decoctions.. Therefore, whichever option you decide to choose, don't forget to consult with your doctor first. He will not only help you find the safest folk anthelmintic for humans, but also select the optimal dosage and adjust the course of treatment.
Diet as a means to combat worms.
Regardless of which treatment method you choose (traditional or medicinal), you will have to forget about your usual diet for some time. In order not to provide parasites with additional resources for active reproduction, you will need to adhere to a certain diet. However, most patients will find it gentle as it does not have strict restrictions.
As a rule, the list of available dishes is prescribed by a parasitologist. Therefore, for your reference, we provide an approximate list of permitted and prohibited products.

As you can see, this diet really has no major restrictions. Therefore, it will not be difficult to comply. However, we repeat that this is just an example of a nutrition plan. In a specific case, the diet should be selected by a parasitologist based on the individual characteristics of the patient.
Precautionary measures
Diets, healing infusions, enemas - all this, of course, is good. But what good is treatment if reinfection occurs immediately after treatment?
Folk remedies for helminths will be beneficial only if, in addition to taking them, you adhere to the following rules:
- Wash your hands thoroughly when you return home, after using the bathroom, and before each meal (even a small one);
- Monitor the condition of your pets: keep them clean, periodically examine them by a veterinarian, feed them with appropriate food;
- Properly process food before eating: pour boiling water over raw vegetables and fruits, properly cook meat and fish (cook, fry);
- Do not drink tap water or unverified natural sources;
- Be more selective in intimate relationships and do not kiss strangers or animals either;
- Wash and wash purchased items immediately after purchase.
Of course, if infection has already occurred, these precautions will be useless. However, if you follow them after recovery, you will not have to think for a long time about how to deal with worms at home.
